Baby 5, Parents 0

Katy has been sleeping in our bed for the last five nights. As we said before, it is not easy to rest with a baby; she is in a constant motion. Anyway, her separation anxiety was heightened on Tuesday. Katy was clearly tired but she refused to fall asleep. Everytime she was about to doze off, she would flinch and open her eyes wide to be sure we were still around. She literally passed out later that night. Poor baby.

Spice

"Hmm, I wonder which of these I can add to my bottle?"

We had a rough weekend. Katy is probably going through separation anxiety phase. On Saturday and Sunday, she would sleep for a couple of hours and start crying. We would go soothe her and then she refused to be put down in the crib again, so we let her sleep with us. We are both very exhausted. We read all we could about this sleeping problem on the internet (especially that she has been a good sleeper), and the best label we can find is night separation anxiety. We also read about attachment parenting, Ferber method, co-sleeping, etc. to deal with this problem and still have no idea what to do tonight. I think the most important thing is that we all get a good night sleep. So, don't raise your eyebrows if Katy is still in our bed 18 years from now.

Pear

We cut up a very ripe pear and put the pieces in Fresh Food Feeder. Katy LOVED the pear! She laughed and sang after she was done with it.

Swing

She likes to sit up straight. If she is lying down, she would try to pull herself up. She gets mad if you are not helping her sit or stand up.

Firefly

She looks like she is trying to make the toy fly. Katy loves this firefly; it makes crinkly sounds and it is light enough for her to hold in one hand.

Crawling?

Not yet. She still has to figure out how to lift her belly and push her knees underneath. She is able to scoop backwards, however.

It has been a pretty good weekend, a little bit on the short side. Katy was doing great. We used the vaporizer on Tuesday, and she pretty much slept through the night. Although she doesn't seem congested, we still have the vaporizer on when she goes to bed.

Other than that, Katy's dad thinks she is cutting TWO teeth, a top one and a bottom one. Katy's mom is not so sure because Katy is just acting too happy to be teething.

Bhima

The strongest baby in the world.

We taught her to slap her thigh and say, "Bhima!"

Blow

It was very cute last week. We tried to teach her to say "ba" and she managed to do mixes of pooh-hooh-fooh. She realized that she could control her lips. Eventually she got the "ba" sound and is now working on "mmm" sounds. All was very cute until last night.

Yesterdy we took her to the doc and he prescribed more antibiotics for Katy. He said that we should let her take it with food because the taste was not great. We got the antibiotics, which is not covered by the insurance, and gave it to her straight the first try. This little girl decided she did not like it, "POOH!-HOOH!-FOOH!" blowing $2 worth of medicine onto us. Later we tried to give her eyedrop, she of course did not like it either and "pooh-hooh-fooh" she went again, thinking that the eyedrop could be blown away. Haha, little did she know! (Her eyes were shut tight, we could barely pry them open.)

[CUTE Baby!!! Free diaper and formula included! Buy It Now for $30,000 or Make Your Offer]

We tried to offer her to people at work. When they refused to take her, we offered them us.

Last night was a little better. She slept from 10 to 3. We gave her decongestant and she slept for another couple of hours.

Katy likes to cross her ankles like that in the picture.

Ahhhhh

Katy decided she was really unhappy last night. She cried and fussed from 9 last night until now. One of the parents got half a night's sleep; the other is not so lucky. I wonder if we could send her back to the hospital?

Long Weekend

Katy brightens up when she sees us entering the room.

It was a long weekend for the parents. First, we are not sure about this new tooth. She is probably not teething; she is most likely to have another cold again.

On Saturday, she managed to cried for five hours after we took a nice walk around the neighborhood. We didn't know what she needed. She was not hungry, her diaper was clean, and we (by we, we mean her dad) held her and walked around. Nothing worked. It was beyond us; she was never like this before. Finally we gave her Tylenol even though she didn't seem to have temperature. She settled down a bit afterwards but was still crabby. Both parents were exhausted. Poor Katy might have been in pain.

Anyway, as she cried for hours, we managed to peek inside her mouth and we couldn't find the new tooth; so maybe she wasn't teething? We tried to feel it again but she likes to bite now, so we can't have our finger in her mouth too long.

Katy is in better mood today, but her left eye is looking a little bit pinkish again. Sigh. We are treating it with the eye drop from the doctor last time. Poor baby. Let's hope she recover soon.

Prune

She is not as interested in formula nowadays. Katy seems to prefer baby food. She is a very good eater; her grandma was very impressed.

Katy was a bit cranky at the daycare. Her teachers said she had a mild fever and they suspected that she might be teething. They were right on the mark; we felt the little bump at the top. Now we are hoping she doesn't get another round of ear infection. (In case you are wondering, her dad got an ear infection everytime he cut a tooth.)

Close Up

Here we tried to take a better picture of her budding teeth; you can see how successful we were. Katy always has this big smile when she sees us, but as soon as she notices the camera, her face changes.

Sit

She is getting better at it. Sometimes when we put her down flat, she would try to pull herself up so she can look around. Very strong baby. Ticklish too.
