Examine

All parts must be moving correctly for the baby.

Katy is on vacation right now in SoCal. We are going hysterical over here. Katy didn't sleep much over the weekend. The weather is getting too hot for her to fall asleep.

Ready

Katy is almost ready to crawl, once she figures out the mechanics of it.

At this moment Katy is on vacation in Reno. According to her grandparents, she is very happy over there. That is good to hear, although we surely miss her!

We have a camera problem. We are not sure if it is a $20 problem (that we only need to replace the USB cable) or a $300 problem (that we have to replace the camera!). We will try to solve the problem and put more pictures up soon.

On an unrelated news, one of Katy's parents is starting graduate school now. His boss thinks he is crazy. We will see what happens.

Bath

It was warm today and Katy was all sweaty and sticky. It was hard to please her because she emitted heat and insisted on being held. Who can hold a hot baby?!

Katy's mom was gone for 30 minutes to do some grocery shopping today. Her dad was playing with her, trying to help her crawl. She was mad and started screaming. Her daddy tried to make her happy by removing her clothes to cool her down, holding her and walking around, ect. Nothing worked. When her mom came back, she was still wailing and red. We decided to give her a cool bath to calm her down. She finally settled down and was all happy and singing to the ducky in the bath. Then her mom turned her around to show her daddy how happy she was, she started bawling when she saw him. Needless to say, his feelings were deeply hurt.

Do I Look Sick?

As you can see, she is still very happy even with the runs and stuff. Only two more days and she will be done.

Tomorrow is her greatgrandma's lunar birthday. With the time difference between the US and Taiwan, her birthday is actually now. Katy is roughly 25% Taiwanese.

Trekkie

Today was an interesting day. Katy and her dad stayed at home. She did not respond well to the new antibotics. The strangest thing was that today was her 7th day of treatment and she was doing okay until now. Today, she just had constant diarrhea and throwing up. Very unpleasant for a little girl. She was in a pretty good mood, but when you tried to feed her, she got so mad. Her grandma is here, so hopefully she will be doing better soon.

Happy Mother's Day

She just found her head recently. Katy would pat her head when she is tired. Also when we put a hat on her, she would try to remove it or play with it.

Baby Yoga

This is a pretty good book. There is a bunch of New Age-y stuff, but the poses are fun. Katy likes to be pulled and tucked. She likes to look at your eyes when you caress her and speak to her in a very gentle voice. That is, when she is in a good mood and lets you do all this.

Last night, her sleep routine was back to normal: she woke up every two hours coughing and turning. We hope she is better soon. We all need a good sleep.

We changed our schedule about a few weeks ago. One of us would go to work later in the morning to drop Katy off at the daycare. The other would go to work early around six and come home early to pick her up. We think Katy is probably the only one enjoying this setup. We are both exhausted from the new schedule. The one parent who goes to work early has trouble getting up early because he is sick. Also that Katy is going through an interesting phase, it can be hard to make her happy.

On Tuesday, the night she had 12 hours of sleep, she was extremely unhappy before she fell asleep. When she is mad, she would throw herself back (and we are supposed to catch/hold her - it could be physically painful sometimes), stiffen her body like a cardboard, stretch her legs out and locks her knees, put her arms in the air, fold her hands in tiny fists, snort and cry, "Eh! Eh! WAHHHH!"

So on Tuesday, the sick parent went to pick her up at the daycare. She just woke up from a nap. One of the teachers handed a freshly made bottle to him and sent them on a "merry" way home. When they got home, Katy's dad laid her in bed so he could get the bottle and himself ready. She was mad. She threw herself back, body stiffened, legs stretched, knees locked, arms up, face reddened, she cried, "Eh! Eh! WAHHHH!"

Her daddy finally gave her the bottle, when the feeding was over, he sat her up so he could burp her. She was mad. She threw herself back, body stiffened, legs stretched, knees locked, arms up, face reddened, she cried, "Eh! Eh! WAHHHH!"

He then took her to her bedroom to change her diaper. She did not like it at all. Katy was mad. She threw herself back, body stiffened, legs stretched, knees locked, arms up, face reddened, she cried, "Eh! Eh! WAHHHH!"

Katy's daddy was tired from being sick, working all day, and dealing with her, so he decided to put her in bed and lay next to her; he was hoping they could nap together. But no, she was mad. Katy threw herself back, body stiffened, legs stretched, knees locked, arms up, face reddened, she cried, "Eh! Eh! WAHHHH!"

Then he gave her a pacifier to soothe her. It seemed to work in the past. She spitted it out and was mad. She threw herself back, body stiffened, legs stretched, knees locked, arms up, face reddened, she cried, "Eh! Eh! WAHHHH!"

At this point, Katy's mom called and asked how she was doing. Her dad said that he has been wrestling with her and couldn't make her happy. Her mom suggested to put Katy on the floor and let her play with toys. He did so and Katy was mad. She threw herself back, body stiffened, legs stretched, knees locked, arms up, face reddened, she cried, "Eh! Eh! WAHHHH!"

Katy's dad then gave her different toys and she was okay for a few seconds. Then she was mad. Katy threw herself back, body stiffened, legs stretched, knees locked, arms up, face reddened, she cried, "Eh! Eh! WAHHHH!"

After that, her dad read her a book. She was quiet throughout the reading. When it was over, Katy was mad. She threw herself back, body stiffened, legs stretched, knees locked, arms up, face reddened, she cried, "Eh! Eh! WAHHHH!"

He gave up and decided to turn on the tv and had Katy sit on his lap. Katy was fine for a few minutes, and then something caught her attention. She leaned forward and had her arms out, but it was out of her reach. Katy was mad. She threw herself back, body stiffened, legs stretched, knees locked, arms up, face reddened, she cried, "Eh! Eh! WAHHHH!"

Finally he pulled her up and put Katy over his shoulder like the old days. She protested a little and fell asleep right away. And of course, at this moment her mom came home and was pleased to see how peaceful Katy looked.

It was the first time in months that Katy's dad was able to put her to sleep. It took him 3 hours but she slept for long 12.

Dala Horse

Katy got this nice dala horse from her relative in Iowa. It is homemade and so CUTE!! Even though she doesn't look it, Katy is actually about 12.5% Swedish and 12.5% Danish, making a full 25% Viking. Is it considered a bad form to thank the relative over the internet? So far Katy's favorite part of the horse is its stringy tail, very enticing to practice Pincer Grasp.

Katy slept really well last night for a change, like almost 12 hours. It is the first in weeks, in her own crib too! We were really happy, although she did have an intermission at 4 in the morning.

Pincer Grasp

The tag is more fun than the toy itself.

Well, everyone is sick in the family. We are hoping summer will be here soon and be done with colds. Katy has a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and we are afraid that there will still be fluids in her ears. It is very likely she will end up having tubes in her ears soon.
