Fountain

So we went back to the fair on Sunday. It was so hot, we stayed for only two hours.

Katy loved the fountain.

Rest

We had a good day today. Katy was in a very happy mood. Her teething didn't bother her as much.

We notice that Katy can dance! When we play children's songs, she would "dance" (shake about) and "sing" (although it sounds more like yelling).

Also, she is getting very playful. She was playing chase with her mom yesterday. Katy would crawl a few steps, sit, turn to look at her mom and then give her a big smile. She would crawl again, sit, and grin. Her mom went quietly after her, so the next time she stopped to look behind her, her mom was very close. That made her so happy and giggly. When her mom reached out to touch her legs while she was crawling away again, she got so excited and laughed hard.

It is nice to have a happy baby in the house.

Barber Shop

Does Katy look like she is about to get a haircut?

Several things happened the last two days. Katy can clearly say "Dada" and used it correctly today. She saw her daddy and called out "Dada" to get his attention. As he approached, she got more excited and said something similar to "baba." So that is interesting. As for calling her mom, it seems like Katy would make "ma-ma-meh-meh" sounds when she is upset.

The daycare lady's husband is a high school science teacher. His first day of school is today, so he will not be able to hang out with the kids at the daycare. That is too bad because Katy and other kids really like him. Yesterday as he was doing lesson plans, he sat Katy on his lap and showed her science clips. With sounds and all special effects. She loved it.

BAY-BEE!!

Katy's new word is "Bay-bee!" It is an all-purpose word she uses when she sees us, when she wants to be picked up, when she wants attention, and of course, when she is throwing a tantrum. Yes, our sweet little baby knows how to throw a tantrum now.

Bright!

We had a rough weekend at first. Katy was extremely fussy and she would wake up in the middle of the night crying. We gave her Tylenol to ease her pain. Her molar teeth are coming in. We can see big bumps in her mouth. Poor thing.

Musical Chairs

Katy got these little chairs from her grandparents. Her daddy used to sit in that rocking chair on the right and her grandpa used to sit in the same chair she is in.

Katy has been very fussy these days. She demands to be held ALL THE TIME. Our backs hurt.

Bubble

Katy is teething again. We think her molar teeth are coming in. She keeps sticking her finger all the way to the back of her mouth and bites on it. Naturally she is drooling profusely and has a runny nose. Katy loves to wipe her face on our shoulder or chest.

State Fair

We took Katy to the state fair. She did remarkably well. We were there for 5 hours and we thought we would be there for only 2 or so. Although when we visited the farm animals we thought we might leave soon since Katy's eyes got red and teary. We were afraid that she might have an eye infection because her nose has been runny. But once we went to the exhibits building, her eyes gradually cleared up. I guess the air in the farm animal area was not clean enough for her. What can we do; she is a princess.

The weather was very pleasant, so it wasn't hard to stay that long. But the fair in general was okay. We have seen better years.

Conductor

Katy is waving a straw.

It has been good 9 weeks since she has been with this new daycare lady. Katy is doing pretty well. She LOVES her little friends there. Every morning, she is so excited to go that she can't wait to get out of the car. Her little friends are also very happy to see her. We still think babies are much more social than the books say.

Lightswitch

Another new fascination.

We notice that for the last two weeks or so, Katy would practice "free standing." She would hold onto us or a piece of furniture to pull herself up, and then she would let go. She could stand up without support for a few seconds.

Milk

We have been giving Katy milk for the last few weeks. She seems to like it. She also likes iced water. However, she still prefers a warm bottle, sitting in our lap and having us feed her. The daycare lady taught her to hold her own bottle, but she still behaves like a baby around us. Otherwise, she is a fairly independent eater. She likes to feed herself [solid food] whenever possible.
