New Relevation

We took Monkey to Borders today to buy a journal (to practice her writing at her teacher's suggestion) and she also wanted to buy some books. She has saved up some allowance money and was able to get a journal book and two books on horses. MonkeyMama also gave her a 40% off coupon that she could use on the most expensive item.

Monkey started to get the idea of coupons, but she still needs to be more familiar with the numbers before she can fully appreciate coupons.

On the way back, she said, "I don't want to buy toys any more. I think I have too much toys. I am going to save my money to buy books."

Needless to say, we were happy to hear that. We told her that interests change, maybe she didn't want to buy more toys, but it is perfectly okay to change.

I guess this allowance thing is starting to work. She has been on allowance for almost two years, maybe we should get Rugrat on allowances too. Sadly, the piggy bank we like went bankrupt.

Speaking of allowances, Monkey went to a birthday party yesterday. One of the moms was chatting with MonkeyDaddy on allowances. She was "scandalized" by the amount of allowance Monkey receives a week. MonkeyDaddy explained that Monkey needed to save her money to buy her own stuff, like her toys and birthday presents. It really depends on the family, i guess.
