猴語錄

This evening Monkey asked if we could go to Disneyland. Good memory. We have been going to Disneyland every month the last two months since Rugrat was born. We told her that Mama had to go to work, so we couldn't go to Disneyland. She asked if she could go to work and then to Disneyland. She understands the concept of rewards following chores quite well.

It was hard to explain to her that she had to wait for another six or seven weeks before we would go to Disneyland again. Monkey's mom showed her a calendar, teaching her how today was May 29th, tomorrow would be May 30th, which is the square next to the 29th, etc. ... it was totally lost on her.

Finally Monkey's mom gave up and decided to go to the kitchen. Monkey was very excited; she asked, "Where are you going?"

"Kitchen."

"Why?"

"I have to cook."

Monkey replied, "I am not hungry."

"Well, Daddy and I are hungry."

She was so surprised, "What, are you turning into piggies?" Things she would learn at the daycare.

The dinner tonight was broccoli beef. Monkey's mom told her to finish her food, including the broccoli, before she could have ice cream. Monkey literally gagged on the broccoli. Her mom thought it was the most hilarious thing in the world and couldn't help laughing. Her daddy had to stop her from laughing, as the gagging reflex was entirely attributed to her genetic makeup and he sympathized. Whatever. Monkey ate her broccoli. Good girl.
